Workshops

Candy Verney regularly leads team building and de-stress workshops for conferences, local authorities and organisations large and small. She works with mixed ability groups in varied situations, including businesses, hospitals, social services, nurseries and schools. The workshops vary from whole-day events to lunch hour drop-in sessions.

“The singing sessions are brilliant, professional, and most importantly extremely effective as a major de-stressing agent. My post as Head of Safeguarding for the Council is by nature a stressful post, and being able to sing with others once a week is very therapeutic - it allows self-expression, release of tension, and a feeling of working together across the Council by singing with people from different departments whom you would not otherwise meet.”

She runs regular workshops in Europe, including an 8 day course at Bild-Werk, Frauenau, Germany, a center for practical arts courses in Bavaria.

“I have attended all the previous years’ sessions and have thoroughly enjoyed them and found my confidence increased by being part of the group making such a wonderful sound. The result could only be attained by teamwork, one person, even if they had a perfect voice, would not have been able to create what we did."

Teaching Seminars

Recognising the need for more teachers to work in a similar way to herself, Candy Verney gives teaching seminars to develop the skills needed. She is currently holding a Community Choir leadership seminar over four weekends from January 2008 in Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire.

“These seminars have introduced me to an inspirational, absorbing and rewarding approach to teaching that enables people to enjoy an extraordinary depth and richness of experience in singing together”.

Journeying

journeying the the himalayas

Inspired by a recent trek in the North Indian Himalayas, Candy Verney has started a new venture in partnership with life coach Sue Glanville, called Journeying.

Imagine walking in beautiful wild places; imagine singing together round a glowing fire; imagine laughing, talking and friendship with other people; imagine having the time, tranquility and space to reconnect with nature and with yourself.

Journeying is all of these things – the outer journey reflecting the inner path; the singing of songs building bridges between one another.

Walking is between 5 and 10 miles a day, carrying just a day bag and stopping to sing in special places along the way. The singing is for everyone, from terrified beginners to experienced singers.

A willingness to engage with the journey is all that is required.

“I really loved the weekend, I got such a lot out of it. Friendship, self-reflection, fun, enjoying discovering new places and exploring new skills.”

“I loved the connections formed to myself, my companions and to nature.”
