Candy Verney has developed her own unique
approach to music making, inspired by methods used in Steiner/Waldorf
Education, as well as studies in the natural world. Her passion
is to inspire and create, through singing, a sense of harmony
which gives the group an experience beyond the ordinary.
She has founded, and runs, four community choirs – Singing in the Round (now in their 10th year) - where the emphasis is on singing for the sheer joy of it, celebrating the seasons and singing in special places.
Candy Verney regularly leads team-building and de-stress workshops for conferences, local authorities and large organisations. She has extensive experience in teaching mixed ability groups in varied situations, including businesses, hospitals, social services, nurseries and schools. She runs regular workshops in Europe, including an 8 day course at Bild-Werk, Frauenau, Germany, a centre for practical arts courses in Bavaria.
Recognising the need for more teachers to work in a similar way to herself, she also gives teaching seminars to develop the skills needed.
Through her latest venture ‘Journeying’ Candy Verney is leading singing treks within the UK and India. Through connecting more deeply with the outer landscape, ‘Journeying’ enables people to reflect on the journey within: the two being woven together by the joys of singing in a group. www.allaboutthejourney.co.uk
Using her wide experience of working with young children, Candy Verney has written two singing books for the early years: The Singing Day and The Singing Year. These well-received books encourage children with songs and activities to mark out the day and the year, connecting them with their environment and showing ways that people can use singing as an aid to family life. www.hawthornpress.com
She was the Musical Director of the Portsmouth International Festival of the Sea 2005. She is a member of the Natural Voice Practitioners Network
